WARRENTON WASSAIL
The Warrenton Wassail is a festive holiday concert. The talented children of SCORE will present traditional wassail songs and other holiday pieces, and will be joined on stage with guest artist Timothy Seaman from Williamsburg, VA., who plays hammer dulcimer, flute, and other instruments.
The word "wassail" comes from the Anglo-Saxon word "wes-hal" which means "Be whole." The songs were sung by carolers in various regions of the British Isles. After singing at various homes, they were treated to a warm drink. In that tradition, the Warrenton Wassail will include a reception with various warm wassail recipes following the performance.
